This Friday, Aug 7th and Saturday, Aug 8th, Mansfield Community Theatre presents a 50th year anniversary performance of the most loved musical - The Sound of Music.
However, while the real Von Trapps had to escape the Nazis and cross into Switzerland, our cast family has to leave Mansfield and perform at the 1000 seat newly opened Kennedale Performimg Arts Center a few miles down US Hwy 287. More bad guys? No, Mansfield, despite being ten times Kennedale's size, has no place to put on a 110 member, fully orchestrated play. Marty Fredrick, co-founder and director of the play, however, staunchly believes in Mansfield and know that the city won't lag Kennedale very long at all once they see the enthusiasm that the show has created.
Playing Captain Von Trapp is radio personality and voice over artist, John McLain, making the transition from stern naval disciplinarian to loving father and husband. John's velvet singing voice is matched by Maria, played by Lori Burgin, dancer and actress on her way up in a big way.
